Burry Port-born youngster to ride in the Silver Shield at League Meetings.
Newport owner Steve Moore today announced that Daniel Pennington would ride in the second half Silver Shield section of home league meetings for the first few weeks of the season.
15-year old Pennington is currently without a club but will compete against fellow Carmathanshire-youngster Oliver Steele in the Champions Apprentice series, which starts at Gorleston next week.
The opportunity to ride in the Exiles Silver Shield heats, as well as the Champions Apprentice, will hopefully help Dan Pennington find a club in the near future, however this deal means that Pennington will ride in all the second halves at Newport home league fixtures until he finds a club.
"We are delighted to have agreed this deal with Pennington," enthused an excited Steve Moore. "We are trying to build a community club with strong Welsh roots here and help young Welsh riders develop. While Pennington currently lives in Manchester, his is proud of his own Welsh heritage and as a result this is a perfect partnership for both parties."
Pennington's first appearance at Spytty Stadium will be in our next home game against Keswick Crusaders next Monday.
