New Exiles signing Graham Evans has made another signing today, as he signs a memorandum of understanding with the speedway authorities about his international future.
Lancastrian-born Evans, who joined the Exiles earlier on in the close season, has a father who was born in Merthyr and has committed his future to the Land of his Fathers.
"My dad's side of the family are very patriotic and making this decision is not only very important to me, but it also very important to them." Evans said when asked about the decision.
"It was actually a big part of my decision to come to Newport. I felt let down by Speedway in England, hence why I spent a couple of the years out of the sport. What they are doing in terms of development down here is superb and it seems fitting that I make myself available to give something back if able to."
When asked on his views on the decision, Exiles' supremo Steve Moore was equally effusive;
"Evans has bought into everything we are doing here and this is proof of it. While Wales have not got enough registered riders to compete on the international stage as of yet, it is hoped that with the development we are doing here at Spytty, we may only be one or two years away."
